Surfer Squares

I can take absolutely no credit for this recipe. It came from a friend. It's amazing. Seriously, even if you don't like butterscotch, you have to try these.

Also, I don't know why they're called Surfer Squares.

1 12 oz package butterscotch chips
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 12 oz package semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13x9 baking pan and set aside. Using a double boiler, melt butterscotch chips, sugar, and butter over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let cool a little.

Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Then stir in flour, baking powder, and salt. Add chocolate chips, marshmallows, and walnuts (optional) and mix until combined. Spoon batter into prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-35 minutes or until bars are set and pulling away from edges of pan. Cool completely, then cut into bars.

My friend adds that as much as you want to eat them warm, they're better after they cool, and even better the next day. Having eaten them warm, cool, and the next day, I completely agree. Really. They're way better after they sit for a while.
